CHEM 110 Fall
|
What should I do if I missed the first lecture (on Mon. Aug. 25)? Info about Prequiz Expected Background In the first lecture, course information was explained. By accessing your lecturer's notes, you can get some idea of what you missed, but the lecture notes are not complete. Talk with your recitation TA as soon as possible to make sure you are caught up. To get caught up on the information you missed in lecture: 1. Make sure you have the Chem 110 textbook which is Chemistry, The Central Science, by Brown, LeMay, Bursten, and Murphy, 11th Edition, Prentice-Hall, 2009. 2. Purchase a copy of the Chem 110 Student Packet available at the Penn State Bookstore on campus. The course syllabus and General Information are given at the front of the packet. 3. Read the syllabus and General Information sheets carefully. A short description of some of the things you should pay attention to is given in the Workings of Chem 110. If you have any questions ask your TA or Lecturer. The second lecture will be on Wednesday, Aug. 29th in 108 Forum. 4. Check the Angel Course page. Select Communicate, then READ COURSE MAIL. Look for any mail from the instructor and read it. It probably has announcements that you missed and might find useful as you get oriented to the course. 5. Be prepared for the
first recitation by doing the homework
assigned for Monday, Aug. 25 Select here for the list of times and rooms for the different Chem 110 recitation sections. (If the bookstore is temporarily out of
Student Packets, be sure to order one, but in the meantime, print out and read the
Syllabus and General
Information available on this website. Also, the
Supplemental Problems are available in pdf
form. You can print out the first set of Supplemental
Problems. PRE-QUIZ If you missed the pre-quiz (if the deadline of Aug. 27 is past) be sure to print out the following document: Background This document lists the expectations we have for someone taking this course. Please read this through and if you think are not sufficiently prepared for this class you should contact the instructor right away to explore your options. If you have taken High School Chemistry but it was not a recent experience and you feel you may need extra help in this course, consider taking Chem 108. Information about Chem 108 is given below and at the Chem 108 Course Web page. |
