What should I do if I missed the first recitation (on Wed. July 2)?

In the first class, course information was explained.

If you missed the the first class be sure to print out the following document:  Background This document lists the expectations we have for someone taking this course. Please read this through and if you think are not sufficiently prepared for this class you should contact the instructor right away to explore your options. If you have taken High School Chemistry but it was not a recent experience and you feel you may need extra help in this course, consider taking Chem 108. Information about Chem 108 is given below and at the Chem 108 Course Web page.

To get caught up on the information you missed in class:

1. Make sure you have the Chem 110 textbook which is Chemistry, The Central Science, by Brown, LeMay, and Bursten, 10th Edition, Prentice-Hall, 2005.

2. Purchase a copy of the Chem 110 Student Packet available at the Penn State Bookstore on campus. The course syllabus and General Information are given at the front of the packet.

3. Read the syllabus and General Information sheets carefully.  A short description of some of the things you should pay attention to is given in the Workings of Chem 110.   If you have any questions ask your TA or Lecturer.

4. Chem 110 lectures will meet every day except Weds in 108 Forum. Print out the lecture notes found on our website and bring them to class to fill in the empty parts.

5. Bring a clean sheet of paper on which to answer and hand in Lecture Problems, and know your TA's name and section number to include on the top or your paper will not be graded.

6. Be prepared for the first recitation (on Wed. July 9.) by doing the homework assigned for Wed., Thurs., Mon., and Tues. July  2, 3, 7, and 8. Homework will be collected, and part of the grade is neatness and completeness. (See LP and homework policies for details.)

7. Select here for the list of times and rooms for the different Chem 110 recitation sections.

8. If the bookstore is temporarily out of Student Packets, be sure to order one, but in the meantime, print out and read the Syllabus and General Information available on this website. Also,  the Supplemental Problems are available in pdf form. You can  print out the first set of Supplemental Problems.
