There are two kinds of Tests on the Chem 112 Test site. 1. Skill Check Tests You must score 100% on each of these to earn credit. You may take these tests as many times as you like prior to the deadline*, but you will only get credit if you score 100% on the quiz. If you get 100%, you may still take the tests again for practice. Your highest score will be reported. You will either receive 1.25 course points per test (if you get 100%) or 0 if you do not pass. There is no partial credit for the Skill Check Tests. If you pass all 8 Skill Check Tests you will earn 10 course points out of 200. There are two deadlines associated with Skill Check Tests; a bonus deadline (different for each test), and a final deadline (Monday Dec. 8 at midnight for all tests). Passing a test with 100% by the bonus deadline earns 0.25 extra credit course points per test. You can earn up to a total of 2 extra course points by passing the tests by the bonus deadlines. Please note: there are no make-ups or extra credit opportunities associated with these basic skills tests; you must earn 100% by the deadline. The tests will not be available after the final deadline. * In principle you can take these tests "as many times" as you like. In practice, there is a daily limit of 8 requests. Once you have requested a test 8 times in a 24 hour period, you will not be able to access the test again for 24 hours. Therefore, if you put these tests off until near the due date, you will have fewer chances to take the tests.
2. Unit Quizzes There will be a total of 11 Unit quizzes and 2 Review Quizzes, each worth 10 points toward the total quiz score (maximum possible is 130 points). Each quiz may only be taken 3 times over the period it is available. Your score will be the highest of your three attempts. Your Quiz total will be determined by summing your 13 quiz scores. If you accumulate a total grade of 100 points or more on your quizzes you will have the full 20% possible for quizzes added to your final course grade total. A total quiz grade of 80 would result in 80/100 of 30 possible course points, or 24 course points for quizzes in your final total. No extra credit results from accumulating more than 100 quiz points. Since you have the opportunity to earn more quiz points than you need (there are 30 extra quiz points) there will be no make-up quizzes if you are unable to take the quizzes for any reason.
