First Day of Class (Spring 2008)
Chem 113 begins on Thursday, January 24, 2008 for Sections 101-103 and Section 104 begins on Friday, January 25, 2008.
When you come to the first meeting, you should already have (and bring with you) the following 4 items :
- Lab Manual - "PSU Chemtrek", currently using August 2007 version. The Aug. 2006 version may be used as long as you write in the updated information (available upon request).
- Chem 113 Student Packet, Spring 2008- This contains the course syllabus and other handouts necessary for the course.
- Eye Protection - There are 4 or 5 approved styles sold in the Penn State Bookstore. Choose a style you like. More detailed information on eye protection is given elsewhere in this packet.
- Chem 111/113 Lab Kit - If you purchased the kit for a previous semester, then you only need to buy supplies that you have used up. For a typical student this means purchasing (a) a new blank notebook, and (b) perhaps a new package of 50 thin stem pipets. Refills for both of these items are available in the Penn State Bookstore.
Your first day of Chemistry 113 will be a lab lecture. This will not be in Whitmore Lab, but will be in the room and building indicated below. The introductory lecture will last about 1 hour. Afterwards, we will walk over to Whitmore Laboratory.
